LSAMP

What is LSAMP?

Students at Moorpark College majoring in the sciences have the opportunity for additional academic support through the National Science Foundation Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (NSF LSAMP). This program strives to enhance the enrollment and success of students, particularly those from underrepresented populations in STEM fields. The objective is to support these students in completing their science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) baccalaureate degree programs and progressing to graduate studies.

Moorpark College connects to the LSAMP through the C6 Alliance specifically focusing on elevating the success and transfer rates of underrepresented students in STEM disciplines. Situated in California's Central Coast, the C6 colleges collaborate to create opportunities for the Alliance's community college partners. The aim is to cater to students in regions with limited large industries, enhancing their access to STEM research opportunities and internships. This is achieved by fostering collaboration with external stakeholders, emphasizing a collective approach rather than individual entities. The C6 Alliance's collaborations with industry partners serve to enhance awareness within the industry about the diverse and untapped potential of underrepresented community college student populations.

The C6 alliance consists of Allan Hancock, Cabrillo, Cuesta, Monterey Peninsula, Moorpark, Oxnard, Santa Barbara, and Ventura colleges. STEM students are invited to participate in the diverse opportunities presented by the C6 Alliance.

C6 is funded by the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Bridge to the Baccalaureate Program (NSF LSAMP/B2B), No. 2110112.
