Moorpark College Theatre Arts is overjoyed to announce our upcoming performances of William Shakespeare’s romantic comedy with a twist TWELFTH NIGHT
“Twelfth Night” combines love, confusion, mistaken identities, and joyful discovery all in one production! After the twins Sebastian and Viola survive a shipwreck, neither knows that the other is alive. To hide her identity, Viola goes into service of Count Orsino of Illyria, disguised as a young man named “Cesario.” Orsino sends Cesario to woo the Lady Olivia on his behalf, but, inconveniently, Olivia falls in love with Cesario. And to complicate things further, Viola has fallen in love with Orsino. Throw in Olivia’s drunken kinsman, Sir Toby Belch, and his party companion, Sir Andrew Aguecheek who have vowed revenge upon Olivia’s tightly-wound steward, Malvolio, and the comedic turmoil begins to unfold. This hilarious romp has been set in the roaring 1920’s and will feature settings, costumes, music and dances from the era and promises to bring a unique take on this classic comedy to the main stage at Moorpark College. This is one you won’t want to miss!
