In this comedy, Mrs. Savage has just inherited a boat load of money. Her greedy stepchildren have already spent every last coin of it in their heads. When Mrs. Savage's intent for the money doesn't line up with her stepchildren's, they throw her into a sanatorium hoping to "bring her to her senses." Instead of a punishment however, Mrs. Savage finds respite in the residents at The Cloisters, each one in their turn reminding Mrs. Savage that kindness and affection are still possibilities in a materialistic world and that mental health is health.
