Diagnostic Test
The purpose of the diagnostic pre-test available below is to help you gauge which chemistry course is appropriate for you to enter. Please note that the appropriate prerequisites for each Chemistry course must be completed prior to registration. Also remember that Chemistry M11 is designed primarily for allied health science majors and is not intended for students planning to take Chemistry M01A. Click on the pre-test link below to open the exam. Once completed, click on the answers to check your score and assess your preparation level. Non-science majors should enroll either in Chemistry M11 or M12.
Questions 1 – 10: If you can answer most of these, then you are probably prepared to take Chemistry M11/M12. If you miss most of these questions, you are encouraged to ensure successful completion of the prerequisite Math M01 (or equivalent) course before enrolling in Chemistry M11/M12.
Questions 11 – 20: If you can answer most of these, then you are probably prepared to take Chemistry M11/M12 or M01A. If you missed most of these questions, you are encouraged to ensure successful completion of the prerequisite Math M01 (or equivalent) before enrolling in Chemistry M11/M12 and successfully complete Math M03 (or equivalent) before enrolling in Chemistry M01A.
Questions 21 – 30 cover high school chemistry or introductory chemistry. If you can answer most of these along with the prior math questions AND have completed the necessary prerequisites, then you should be prepared to take Chemistry M01A.
