MC Spirit 2018-2019
About the Moorpark College Spirit Program
The MC Spirit (MCS) program integrates elements of cheer, classical dance, gymnastics, and commercial dance to create a squad of performers who serve as representatives of the college, cheerleaders to multiple sports teams at MC, community ambassadors, and emergent professional dancers. MCS members condition and train as dancers and athletes, who may go on to join renowned spirit programs at universities, professional cheerleading positions, commercial dance jobs, musical theater performances, and professional, local and touring entertainment companies.
Because the MCS program values academic rigor, personal integrity, professionalism, and proper conditioning for health and fitness, the MCS program is embedded in the Moorpark College long-standing Dance program. MCS members: 1) enroll in college classes as they pursue their personal educational goals in varied disciplines, 2) enroll in classical Dance classes at the college to support proper dance technique, posture, balance and conditioning, 3) participate in and support college activities outside the classroom as MCS members, and 4) represent the college at community events on and off campus, including local parades, festivals, theater arts performances, and more.
As ambassadors of the campus, MCS members uphold the MC student code of conduct at all times, strive to foster positive and productive relationships with classmates and MC community members, and behave as a stellar representatives of the college when interacting with peers, faculty, administration, and community members whether live, on social media, or beyond. MCS members also aim to give back to the community by volunteering for and supporting local charitable causes.
