The Moorpark College Library Instruction program aims to build information competency in students and uses the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy in Higher Education as a guide for all library instruction activities.

Library Instruction Options

Contact a Librarian if you have any questions or would like to work with a librarian to set up one of the options below.

Librarians are available to provide instruction in-person in our Library classroom or at your classroom, or online via Zoom. Library instruction sessions can be a brief orientation to library resources or a longer session that is tailored to meet the needs of your assignment. More than one session can be scheduled in order to provide instruction that aligns with the research goals with your various assignments.

If your class is asynchronous, we can work with you to find an option that works best for your students - this could be drop-in hours or a scheduled live Zoom session at a set day/time.

The Information Literacy Tutorials are a self-enrolled, self-paced Canvas course consisting of the following modules:

Tutorial #1: What is Research
Tutorial #2: Getting Started with Research
Tutorial #3: OneSearch Basics
Tutorial #4: Evaluating & Selecting Sources
Tutorial #5: Avoiding Plagiarism & Citing Sources
Tutorial #6: MLA Style for Community College Researchers
Tutorial #7: APA Style for Community College Researchers

Each module will take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete. Students must earn a 75% or higher on a quiz to complete the module. Students will receive a digital badge upon completion. Faculty may assign one or more workshop as an assignment and request the digital badge as proof of completion. Tutorials can be taken in order or individually; however, it is recommended that students begin with Tutorial #1, then move on to the tutorial that meets their needs.
