Free Tutoring for Moorpark College Students

The Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC) provides academic support (tutoring, workshops, etc.) through the Math and Science Center, the Writing Center, and the Course Embedded Tutor (CET) program in order to to help students achieve academic success. TLC Services are free to all Moorpark College students.

The Writing Center schedule for 11/7 due to campus closure:

Students may send a question or an essay/paper to our e-mail at WCEmailEssay@gmail.com. Comments offer general feedback on issues you might want to address through your own revision and editing processes. Please send your essay in a format that can be edited, such as an MS Word doc or a Google doc that anyone can access. When sending a paper/essay, please provide the following required information:

Your name and your student ID number
The name of the course and the professor's name
The type of assignment (examples: narrative essay, research paper, critique etc.)
Any directions from the instructor about the requirements of the assignment
  (examples: 5 pages, MLA citation, use classical argument etc.)
What concerns you might have or your questions about the paper
If you would prefer written or audio/video comments on your paper.
Please allow 24-48 hours to get a response from the email tutor Monday through Friday (we do not answer emails Saturday and Sunday).

Learning Center Outcomes

Students who use the Tutoring and Learning Center (TLC) will be able to apply learning strategies to succeed in college. The TLC enables students to:

  • Assess learning needs and identify individual strengths and learning needs in subject area

  • Improve understanding and competence in the subject area

  • Apply skills from tutoring sessions to other assignments or courses

  • Use strategies gained from tutoring to be a more confident, successful college student
